Munich Security Conference with US Participation

The annual Munich Security Conference begins on 14 February, bringing together heads of state, defence and foreign ministers, and representatives of international organisations. Delegations from the United States, European countries and NATO partner states are attending the event.

One of the main topics of discussion is transatlantic relations and the future of cooperation within the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. The agenda also includes support for Ukraine, defence spending by NATO member states and Europe’s energy security.

Ahead of the conference, US President Donald Trump announced a review of the United States’ engagement in international alliances and called on European NATO members to increase defence expenditure. Several European leaders stated that talks would focus on further coordination in the field of security.

The conference will run until 16 February.
